It is the legal responsibility of employers to ensure that employees are suitably protected from damaging noise levels at work. They should ensure ear protectors are worn, and that you have had training in using them.

Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is recognised by the medical profession and means you could be entitled to compensation for hearing loss from your current or former employer if you are experiencing difficulty with your hearing in every day life.

We are experienced lawyers in handling hearing claims and tinnitus claims where employers have been negligent in their duty of care to you whilst working in a noisy environment.

If you have been diagnosed with hearing loss and think you may be eligible to make an industrial deafness claim, simply tell us about your circumstances.

A successful claim can help you fund hearing aids to help you adjust to living with hearing loss as well as compensating you financially for the affect industrial deafness has upon your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the symptoms of industrial deafness?

If you have difficulty hearing in one or both ears which means you have to ask people to speak louder or turn the volume up on the television or radio, you may have industrial deafness from your workplace. Acoustic trauma comes on quickly after experiencing an extremely loud noise. More commonly, you may notice tinnitus, which is a constant ticking, buzzing or ringing sound caused by damage to your cochlea.

Is there a hearing loss claim time limit?

You have three years in which to commence proceedings in a Court from the first date on which you knew or could have reasonably found out that your hearing loss or tinnitus were related to exposure to noise at work.

What are the common causes of industrial deafness?

Noise is an inevitable part of many working environments such as construction, manufacturing, textile mills and quarrying, which in some cases leads to industrial or occupational deafness.  Any workplace where the noise levels rise above 80dB is potentially dangerous for your hearing.

How to claim for industrial deafness

If you have difficulty hearing as a result of your workplace environment, we can tell you whether or not you might be successful in making a claim for compensation.  If we think that you are, we will gather together the evidence to support your case and present it professionally for legal judgement to help you get the financial recompense you deserve.
